THE OTHERS: Sidra Bell in FOUR! Plus JANUSPHERE

Ok so we all know that even though I am a sort of Balletomane, I do at moments, love those 'other dance forms' as well!  If you are being a good ballerina today, then you need to inform yourself of the rest of the dance world too and this performance would be a good place to begin. Furthermore, as any good performance journalist knows you need to report where the action is -- and this weekend Baruch College is hosting a special event of 4 Modern Choreographers premiering 4 New Works in an evening length event titled, ironically?, FOUR.

Now 3 of these folks are choreographers whom I've never seen and really don't know.  However, ONE of those Choreographers, a Miss Sidra Bell, is a choreographer I've known since I began dancing, and is someone whose drive, ambition and work I really admire. One thing that I have always enjoyed about her work is her sensitive ear to music, developed I'm sure by living in an artistically inclined and quite musical family with a Jazz Musician / Composer Father, Dennis Bell, whose music is being showcased as well with this program.  In addition, Sidra has an aesthetic that can most clearly be described as sensual, evocative and even daring, and has been making headlines really from the moment she graduated Purchase with a Masters in Choreography.  In a short time, she has created an savvy company that has already proven itself in the Contemporary World to be among those we can expect to see in the coming decades.

At any rate please see the Official Press Release below (which I have edited a bit for grammatical purposes).  Student Tickets are only $15 with full price tix going at $25 -- but there is a discount code that gets that down to $17.50 so there is no need to pay the entire amount!
